Four major stages for a trip that gives Mexico a strong and contrasting image. The tumultuous and sprawling capital first, Mexico City, from Aztec remains to the futuristic skyscrapers of Paseo de la Reforma, the collisions of eras and spaces are stunning. And what a rhythm! After a stopover in Puebla, colonial and colorful, you reach the beautiful valley of Oaxaca. The city has preserved treasures of colonial architecture; its natural surroundings, ample and well balanced, seduce the sensitive traveler. Large archaeological sites, such as Monte Alban and Mitla, recall the good times and the genius of Indian civilizations. The vigor of the rollers and the relaxation of the Pacific coast round off the journey smoothly. With Puerto Escondido Oaxaca this is important.
Flight to Mexico
Welcome on arrival and private transfer to the La Condesa district. Young workers and artists from all walks of life have made it one of the most enjoyable and safe places in Mexico City. Wide avenues planted with trees, terraced cafes, galleries and a beautiful Art Deco heritage (Edificio Basurto, Edificio San Martin). The rooms all have a different design, a fusion of modern and indigenous arts. In fine weather, we go to the rooftop terrace to have breakfast with a view over the rooftops of Mexico City.
On The Program: Mexico City In Private And By Bike
To shine through the parks, avenues and trendy terraces of the Roma and La Condesa districts, cycling is an option as attractive as it is practical. A half-day in the company of a local guide allows you to decipher these bohemian and trendy districts, between Art Deco architecture, peaceful alleys and stops in a gallery, a bookstore, a designer shop. The next day, an appointment is made with Clément, Frenchman living in Mexico for about fifteen years. His knowledge of history and anthropology feeds captivating anecdotes, which he delivers over a stroll without any preconceived itinerary, improvised according to your tastes.
Mexico City Is Not a Big City, It Is a Mega City
From Tenochtitlan to Chilangolandia, History has roared and left contrasting traces. In the Centro Historico, the Templo Mayor, dedicated to Huitzilopochtli and Tlaloc, the Aztec gods of war and agriculture, adjoins the imposing Catedral Metropolitana de la Asuncion de Maria. In the chapel of Saint Joseph of this one, the Christ with the cocoa beans suggests moreover that the memory of Tlaloc is not erased. At the National Palace and the Palace of Fine Arts, the works of 20th century muralist painters (José Clemente Orozco, David Alfaro Siqueiros, and Diego Rivera) express in their own way the tensions and dynamics that still carry Mexican society. In Polanco, the Soumaya museum presents in its aluminum sheath the art collection of Carlos Slim, “the richest man in the world”.
